This Privacy Policy explains how Tend ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information. Tend is owned and operated by Sproutback, a sole trader business based in Australia ("Sproutback").
We have tried to write this in plain language. If anything is unclear, contact us at support@gettendapp.com.
The business responsible for your personal information (the data controller, or in Australian terms the APP entity) is:

We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Data you create in the app. Habits, habit completions and history, streaks, daily mood entries, daily notes, goals, reminders, and app settings. By default this is stored only on your device.
Account information (only if you choose to create an account). Depending on the sign-in method you choose, we collect:
We use a third-party authentication and database provider (Supabase) to manage accounts and store backed-up data. We do not store your password ourselves; authentication is handled by that provider.
Notifications. If you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated on your device and are not sent to us.
What we do NOT collect. We do not include third-party advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or behavioural tracking tools in the app. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or health data.
If you never sign in, your data stays on your device. We have no copy of it and cannot recover it for you. If you delete the app or lose your device, that data is lost unless you have exported a backup file yourself (Settings > Data > Export). You can re-import a backup file at any time (Settings > Data > Import).
If you sign in, your app data is copied to our cloud provider so it can be restored and synced. This data is associated with your account identifier and protected by access controls so that only your account can read it. You can sign out at any time, which stops syncing on that device; your local data remains.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that make the app work, and only as needed:
These providers process data on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cloud-backed data (for account holders) is stored on infrastructure operated by our cloud provider, which may be located outside Australia. By creating an account you consent to your information being stored and processed in those locations. We take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely.
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Account holders can also export their data from within the app at any time. To make a request, contact support@gettendapp.com.
If you are in a region with additional data-protection rights (for example the EU/UK or California), you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data; contact us and we will do our best to assist.
Tend is not directed at children under the age required by your local law to consent to data processing, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy as the app changes. If we add features that handle data differently (for example, subscriptions or analytics), we will update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date before those features collect data.
